I booked a ticket through cleartrip.ae, from Dubai to Trivandrum, India. After a few days, the website staff informed me that Jet Airways had cancelled the flight, and they asked me to rebook the flight from another place or to cancel the trip. My booking date was August 12 and due to peak summer air traffic, I had no choice but to rebook the flight from Abu Dhabi to Trivandrum. The booking was confirmed.

After two weeks, I got a cheaper price from another airline — Air India Express — and I purchased a ticket from Dubai to Trivandrum for August 12. I requested Cleartrip to cancel the ticket that was issued from Abu Dhabi to Trivandrum, since I had bought a ticket directly from Air India Express from Dubai. For the flight from Abu Dhabi, I would have had to take a taxi from Dubai to Abu Dhabi with my family, which seemed expensive and inconvenient. With regards to my cancellation request, Cleartrip accepted my request to cancel the trip and informed Jet Airways. I received a text message confirmation about the cancellation of the trip and they promised to refund the money. Unfortunately, despite several calls and emails, no action has been taken on the refund from Cleartrip as they informed me that they are waiting for the airline — Jet Airways. Since I purchased the ticket through Cleartrip, my contact point is just them, and I have no direct connection to Jet Airways.

I am seeking a full refund of my cancelled ticket.

The management of Jet Airways responds:

Thanks for notifying the complaint to us. We have spoken to the guest and the service provider, Cleartrip, and sorted out the issue. Cleartrip will process the refund and advise the guest. Cleartrip executives have also spoken to him.

The reader responds:

Many thanks for the quick action. I would like to inform Gulf News that I received a call from the Dubai agent of Cleartrip and Jet Airways’ Dubai office, and they promised to give me a full refund. I also received a text message and email confirmation from Cleartrip. I am waiting for the refund to be credited to my card as informed by them, within 5-7 working days. The matter is settled now. Thank you once again for taking up this matter and for helping me get back the amount for the cancelled trip. The team has done a wonderful job.
