I purchased return tickets through Air Arabia for my daughter, for the route, Ahmedabad, India, to Sharjah, using a travel website.

When I booked tickets, there was no prompt or indication that I was being issued tickets without any baggage allowance, whatsoever. However, when I reached the airport, I was informed that no baggage was allowed on my ticket and I would need to pay an additional Dh80, which I paid and managed. But it was too costly for me.

However, I called up the travel website and asked them what I should do to avoid a similar problem while returning. They asked me to pay Dh10 extra for 30kg luggage allowance, so I promptly paid and booked my luggage, a month in advance.

However, when I reached Ahmedabad airport, the Air Arabia staff refused to accept my baggage again and informed me that they had not received any money from the travel website. I showed them the receipt, but they refused, saying their system was not updated. I was made to run from pillar to post. I was again forced to pay Dh56 for 20kg and they told me that for another 10kg, I would have to pay Dh500. I preferred to leave behind the extra luggage and paid Dh56 for 20kg luggage allowance.

After returning to Sharjah, I immediately contacted Air Arabia and the travel website, both of whom refused to accept responsibility, and instead, blamed each other. To date, I have no satisfactory response from anyone.
