I purchased an air ticket on March 20, 2017, from Air India’s website, to travel on September 3 from Kozhikode, India, to Sharjah. I paid the live fare of 8,640 rupees (Dh495) and received a booking confirmation. An equivalent amount was deducted from my credit card.

On April 13, I received an email from Air India, stating that there was a fare mismatch and I would have to pay an additional amount of 8,860 rupees (Dh508).

Can Gulf News please advise if it is legal to demand additional money, after I have secured the ticket by paying the amount displayed on their website at the time of booking?

From Mr Ashraf Ali

The management of Air India responds:

With reference to the subject, please be advised that the matter has been discussed with Mr Ali and has been resolved.

Mr Ali responds:

Thank you Gulf News for the intervention and for solving this issue amicably. As per my conversation with an Air India representative, I will be able to travel without any hindrance using the same ticket, without paying any additional fare.
