I have a bad experience with Dubai First. This is an issue of a cancellation request for my credit card. Why they can’t cancel a single credit card and why do they need me to chase them for this request for three years?

Every time I call them for a cancellation, they keep on informing me to wait 6 months for them to cancel this card. In fact, I haven’t even activated this card and I have paid an annual fee, which is unfair. I even went to their office to sign the cancellation form and subsequently their agent called me and said that I am not yet allowed to cancel the card. This July 2017 is the renewal of my credit card annual fee. Should I pay them again even though I haven’t activated the card? These delaying tactics are so desperate and their inexplicably bureaucracy is so horrible.

I am hoping Gulf News will help me to conclude this issue. Thanks a lot in advance!

Mr Arceo responds:

Thank you all for your tremendous effort. Without your intervention, they would not take this case as a serious matter. This kind of situation means a lot to me and maybe for other people, too, who are just an average expatriate worker.

Gulf News’ hard work has not gone unnoticed. Again, I would like to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you.
