Details too graphic?

I have been a reader of Gulf News for so many years. I would like to highlight something that could be taken into consideration. On a daily basis, in the Nation pages, we see so many cases of rape and murder being reported. It’s always good to read such reports, as readers would become aware of what’s happening around them.

But, as there are young readers in our homes, it would be appropriate if the news report is published without detailing how the person was raped or killed. Graphic details, such as how a criminal removed a woman’s dress and raped her, or how someone stabbed someone else’s chest, could be avoided. Just reporting the incident is more than enough to spread awareness.

I hope this issue will be addressed and resolved with immediate effect.
