DUBAI Over 8,000 runners are expected to converge on the Meydan on November 6 for the inaugural Daman’s ActiveLife Electric Run. The biggest and brightest 5K night run powered by XDubai will be unique in its own way as it combines lights and music. “One of the greatest things about this event is its ability to attract people of all ages and fitness abilities wherever it goes,” said David Sanderson, race director of event organiser Fast Track.

Family night

“Everyone is welcome to be a part of the electric run. This is an untimed race so everyone can get a ticket to the event. Children up to the age of three go free. To add to the excitement and fun, you can purchase different kinds of glow-in-the-dark merchandise ranging from neon tutus to LED glasses and wristbands. Both adults and children can have a good time,” he added.

The event will see top stars participate, including Great Britain’s favourite runner Dame Kelly Holmes.

“I am looking forward to it. Any run at night time is quite exciting - it puts you in a mind-set of going out and doing something enjoyable. What I like about it is the combination of music, neon lights and adventurous course,” said Holmes.

“I’m a big kid at these places; I throw myself in and encourage everyone else to do the same. This is attainable for everybody, the distances aren’t that far in the scheme of things and it’s something that is enjoyable and exciting. There will be a fantastic atmosphere” added Holmes.

XDubai, event partner, has put together a spectacular surprise by lighting up Dubai’s skies in the night.

Abu Dhabi will host the next Electric Run on January 29.
