What we can expect this GITEX Shopper?

Through the eight days there will be new product launches and exciting offers across the full spectrum of technology, communication and entertainment sectors. There will be a slew of competitions, entertainment and prizes including a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, dream holidays and cutting-edge tech products.

What was the footfall last year and what is your expectation this year?

Last year we welcomed over 200,000 visitors and this year, we are expecting the same.

What are the likely ‘trending’ products?

Wearables, 3D-printing materials, live video streaming, Ultra-HD (UHD) TVs, smart drones, electric skateboards, smart appliances are some to watch out for. Wrist-worn devices continue to be trailblazers in the wearables market, with fitness, activity and sports trackers accounting for almost half of the sales.

What about the virtual reality segment?

There is an increased virtual reality content in the gaming industry, as well as in the development of 360 degree cameras. Intel recently introduced its newest VR headset, project alloy, which introduces the concept of merged reality. Instead of a headset cord and controllers, people will experience VR at its finest by using their own hands.
