Dubai: A restaurant in Karama is reaching out to taxi drivers in Dubai by providing them tea free of cost when they are on duty.
Ali Asgar, owner of Kaati Express, located in Shaikh Hamdan Colony, told XPRESS the offer is in agreement with the Dubai Taxi Corporation and Roads and Transport Authority as part of its loyalty programme initiated in 2017, the Year of Giving.
“The offer is being extended to all taxi drivers who are in uniform and on duty," said Asger.
"Besides a free cup of milk tea, they can also avail a 20 per cent discount on food orders. Taxi drivers work long hours and very hard. They are on the move and have little time for a break, even for food," he added.
"So we decided this was a good way to give back to them and provide them with an opportunity to take some time off their tough jobs,” said Asger.
On the go
Located opposite the mosque in Shaikh Hamdan Colony, in Karama, the restaurant benefits from ample parking space in the area.
Taxi drivers can park their vehicles here, have a quick cup of tea and catch up with fellow drivers.
“Essentially we are an on-the-go restaurant and no time is wasted here. We deliver orders within five minutes,” said Asger.
Kaati Express specialises in a variety of kaati rolls or frankies. Among the more popular items on its menu are mutton boti roll and chicken tikka roll.
They also sell a roll and biryani combo which is in great demand. The average price of the rolls is Dh12, upon which the drivers can get a 20 per cent discount.
Asger said the offer was launched in the last week of December and not many drivers have come forward to get it as yet.
“We hope with greater awareness, the numbers will grow.”
In addition to Karama, Kaati Express has another outlet in the Bayswater Tower in Business Bay, he added.
