Dubai: With temperatures soaring to new highs in the UAE, even a trip to the spa or beauty salon can be an ordeal. But the full services of a spa or salon can be enjoyed at your doorstep, thanks to a growing number of home services.

REVIVE, the newest home spa in town, which was launched in May claims its “sole purpose” is to deliver “luxury home massages”, scorching summer or otherwise.

Having moved to Dubai from Miami Beach in the US, its founder Jennifer Tromba-Qadir, said the home spa idea stemmed from a personal need.

“I fell in love with Dubai and all of its comforts. However, with a full-time career and a young baby girl, my busy schedule did not allow me to visit a five star hotel (spa) every time I wanted to get pampered. Many of my friends felt the same way. They loved getting massages but didn’t want to deal with traffic, bookings and having to choose between their family and themselves.”

She said REVIVE’s luxury home massage recreates the spa experience at the client’s location, complete with a professional massage table, fine linens, assortment of oils, candles and even the soothing background music.

Customised massages

Clients, whom Jennifer claims include top Dubai personal trainers, bloggers, celebrities and even royalty, get 60 or 90 minute massages and select from relaxation, deep tissue, aromatherapy, sports, traditional Thai and slimming options. Some also ask for customised massages. The cost ranges from Dh300 for a 60-minute session to Dh400 for 90 minutes.

The concept of home spas and salons is not new to Dubai. Belle Femme Beauty at Home, for instance, has been around for over six years now, its parent salon Belle Femme having opened in 1999.

According to its management, the home service was launched to cater to women that prefer to have Belle Femme come to their doorsteps.

In summer, some clients prefer to enjoy the Belle Femme experience at home to avoid the heat, the management said.

“Women can enjoy our signature treatments as well as the most comforting and luxurious services without having to go anywhere: from tinting threading, waxing, a comforting massage, hair treatment, stylish blow-dry or nail polish, we transform the home into a beauty centre and our team provides all tools for the ultimate experience. The minimum spend per visit is Dh160.”

The demand for home spas is high, with business peaking during summer. Hawaiian Hush, which launched in the last quarter of 2015, gets over 70 home bookings a week, according to one of its staff. Located in Dubai Sports City, it covers homes in and around its neighbourhood.

“When we say we are bringing the salon to you, we actually mean that. In a matter of minutes, your house will be transformed into a temporary beauty centre, where everything will be provided by our staff. From towels and sterilised tools, to oils and colours,” the spa claims.

Convenience

For customers like Rachael, nothing beats the convenience of a home spa treatment, especially during the summer months. “Unlike earlier, home spa services these days are consciously recreating the ambience of a well-appointed spa in the convenience of one’s own house. For me that’s a huge differentiating factor.”

Indian resident Sarika, who goes in for a massage every week and gets salon services once in three weeks, says she tries different home spas.

“I don’t feel like I am wasting time and neglecting my children as I am home with them and at the same time can pamper myself.”
