Dubai: The Birds and Pet Market in Dubai is hosting a pet parade on May 26.

Organised by Showline FZE in association with Dubai Municipality and PETME, the event will be held at the market’s lawns in Al Warzan from 4 to 10pm.

Shree Nair of PETME said the event is a response to requests from residents for another pet show on the lines of the Dubai Pet Festival and Abu Dhabi Pet Festival.

“Pet owners wanted a similar event before the summer holidays begins. So we came up with the idea of the parade,” he said.

He said the highlights of the show include an all-breed dog obedience show, dog agility competitions, tactical demo of security dogs, cat beauty contests, woof parade, pet fashion show, fancy dress competitions for pets and their owners, dance with pets with a live DJ in attendance, petting zoo and pony rides, an adoption corner and a special kids’ zone.

He said the parade is an edutainment fair designed to raise awareness about animal welfare and educate residents about pet products, food, fashion, health, training and services.

“It will be a special experience for pet lovers and an evening out for the entire family,” said Nair.

He said the show will also have at hand veterinary experts, dog trainers, pet behaviour specialists and animal welfare officials with whom pet owners can interact.

Entry to the event is free.
