Abu Dhabi: Indian expats have been urged to participate in an online survey and share their thoughts on how they can cast their votes during polls in their home country.

The link to the survey, launched by the Election Commission of India, is available on the Indian embassy’s website (www.everyvotecounts.in).

Speaking to representatives of Indian associations and community leaders on Monday, Neeta Bhushan, Charge d’Affairs at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, said: “It is important to let the government get a sense of what your opinion is on the voting rights of non-resident Indians. There are different options to choose from including proxy voting, postal or e-voting or ballots at the embassy.”

‘Make your voice count’

“I urge all Indians in the UAE to participate in big numbers and make their voice count,” she said.

The survey will run till the year end. Expats can also earn ‘democracy points’ by participating in the competition on the website. Bhushan also urged community leaders attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention to be held from January 7 to 9 in Bengaluru.

“I would like you to use this opportunity to discuss your problems at a platform where many minsters including Prime Minister and the external affairs minister will be present.”

Expats can log in to pbdindia.gov.in to register for the event.
