Dubai: A unique gaming and party experience has been introduced in the UAE with the launch of the country’s first mobile gaming theatre.
Called Game Truck UAE, the air-conditioned theatre is being hired by adolescents and adults alike across the emirates, its co-founder Jeannette Klaua said.
The Dubai-based German expat said the theatre comprises a seven-metre Mercedes Sprinter with a climate-controlled mobile gaming trailer that has four high-definition 48 inch LCD screens inside, a lot of video game consoles and games and stadium seating for up to 12 people who can play simultaneously. The 20-odd gaming titles currently on offer include select picks from popular series like FIFA, Minecraft, Call of Duty, Lego, NBA and the like.
“The concept is very popular in the US. After much research, my partner Robert and I decided to introduce it to the UAE.” All one has to do to hire the truck is to choose a package from the truck’s website (http://www.gametruckuae.com/) and make a booking via phone or e-mail. The packages range from ‘bronze’ to ‘platinum’ with an “early morning during week special” as well.
Klaua said the 60 minute ‘bronze’ package for 12 people costs Dh850 on weekdays and Dh1,050 during weekends while the Dh150 platinum package costs Dh1,050 during weekdays and Dh1,250 on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays.
“The early morning during week special lasts for 90 minutes and costs Dh800. Every party is hosted by a Game Truck staff who shares expert gaming tips, motivates and supervises the play.”
She said the gaming truck can go anyplace provided there is eight metres of parking space and a power plug point reachable with a 25 metre extension cord. “Even otherwise, we can use a generator.”
She said the concept has been a huge hit with not just teenagers but also adult men who love to have a good game with their peers in bachelor parties.
The gaming experience also includes popcorn and soft drinks.
