Dubai: Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui will be back in Dubai this week to stage Budha Ghar Pe Hai, a stand-up comedy, on November 18.

The event Dhaamaal is being organised by Price Global Conference & Events at Emirates Theatre, Emirates International School, Jumeirah.

Better known as Teeli, Siddiqui explains how he got the name from the popular drama Bakra kishton pe. “This was because I was extremely thin. The original name given to me was Pakola, which is a soft drink in Pakistan, but producers felt Teeli was a better name.”

The comedian, who has featured on Indian TV show Comedy Circus and counts Lehri Sahab and Paresh Raval among his heroes, says the one essential requisite of a good comedian is to be a keen observer of daily life. He describes himself as “a serious person who feels sad when I see the sadness of other people. I am extremely sad at the situation in Pakistan today and I prefer to laugh through it all, and let the lighter side of life take over.”

Tickets to the play range from Dh75 to Dh400 and are available at www.dubaieventsonline.com. The show starts at 8pm, but doors open at 7pm.
