Dubai: As we celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day, I would like to congratulate my fellow Indians in the UAE and back home. India has made its mark as a global super power, a top investment destination and a centre for innovation – achievements that we can truly be proud of.

India and the UAE enjoy strong bonds of friendship based on deep cultural and trade relations between the two nations, which spans centuries. As India steps into her 71st year of freedom, this relationship has only gone from strength to strength. With the founding of the UAE, the leaders of this nation have further cemented these bonds for over four decades.

There are more than two million Indians that call the UAE home who are building a life for themselves and a future for their families. This makes us the largest community in the country, with each one of us contributing a great deal to the economy, as workers on construction sites, or founders of multi-billion dollar conglomerates.

The UAE provides entrepreneurs like myself an environment that offers everything you need to develop a product or service and if you look at Dubai, you will know that success is born and thrives here.

If you combine the entrepreneurial and dogged determination of an Indian to succeed along with an encouraging and business-friendly environment, you are bound to find success stories. I am pleased to be a part of the collaborative journey between these two great nations through our SmartCity projects in India in partnership with TECOM Investments.

Based on such deep and historic relationships, I believe the future of technology-led, trade and development initiatives between the two countries is bright and will yield benefits for both nations.

On this momentous day, I am confident that the ties between India and the UAE will continue to become even more stronger and I wish my great country and fellow Indians a very happy Independence Day!
