DUBAI: Residents on Al Seba Street in Dubai Marina are spoilt for choice when it comes to grocery shopping as three new supermarkets have opened in the area in recent weeks.

W Mart Supermarket in Zumurud Tower, Fresh & Care Mini Mart in Jannah Place building and Edel Mini Mart in Panoramic building have taken the count of supermarkets in the area from a meagre two to five.

The new supermarkets are open round the clock and provide home delivery as well.

Shopping made easy

“It’s been only a few weeks since these new stores opened and I can already feel the impact. They have made my grocery shopping a lot more convenient than before. And I love the fact that they deliver to my doorstep,” says Mark Wilbur, a resident of the area.

The mini marts have a wide range of fruit, vegetables, meat and poultry as well as dairy items. The W Mart also has a bakery line serving croissants, fruitcakes and 18 types of bread.

First store

The first supermarket in the locality – Zumurud Mart – opened eight years ago.

“Dubai Marina never sleeps which explains why all supermarkets here are open round the clock. It’s very convenient for people especially those who work late night shifts. We have a lot of walk-in customers during the night hours,” says Chad Brian, the cashier at Zumurud Mart.

“Almost every building has its own supermarket now. A new Al Maya store is set to open in my building shortly,” says Anastasia Costache who stays in Icon Tower. The store will be Al Maya Group’s 44th supermarket in the UAE.

May Chiang, a resident of Marina Park building, says she now has eight supermarkets within 600 metres of her apartment.

“Since my buidling is close to Al Hublot Street, I get the benefit of stores on that road as well. There is an Al Maya, a Choice mart that opened last month and a small grocery that offers home delivery – with no minimum spend,” she says.
