SHARJAH: Rana Ayuub, the feisty Indian journalist and author of the explosive Gujarat Files: Anatomy of a Cover Up will deliver a talk at Sharjah’s Holiday International Hotel on Thursday evening.
A result of an eight-month long undercover investigation, Rana’s book has ruffled many feathers in India as it throws a disturbing light on the role of the state government during the 2002 Gujarat riots and the numerous extra judicial killings between 2002 and 2006.
However, her talks in Sharjah won’t be centered around her book. Instead, Rana will focus on the importance of empowering disadvantaged sections and minorities in India. “This is my first trip to the UAE post the launch of my book. The event looks to be a terrific confluence of minds and ideas. I couldn’t have asked for a better platform to put forth my views,” she said.
US-based scientist and founder of online newsportal Twocircles.net Kashif ul Huda, minister of education for the state of Bihar, Dr Ashok Chaudhury will also address the conference, which is being organised by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Forum, said S.M Qutubur Rahman, president of the forum.
