Dubai: Did you forget to trim your beard or get that all important facial ahead of your travel? Do you want a massage before the long haul flight? Don’t sweat. The Dubai International Airport (DXB) now has 71 salons and spas where you can pamper yourself.

Scrub, massage, facial

The facilities across Concourses A, B, C and D at Terminal 1 and 3 offer a range of services including organic body scrubs, aroma and de-stress massages, signature facials and Japanese body treatments.

A 45-minute session of Desert Aroma Massage which uses a choice of desert-inspired aromatic oils is priced Dh450 while the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi – an ancient form of healing which claims to improve blood circulation costs Dh595 for a 90 minute session. If you are suffering from jet lag, a Dh750 two-hour session of Swedish massage and facial will rejuvenate you.

Beard trimming costs Dh175 while a shave is priced Dh140 and includes a hot compress treatment with a cleansing cream and balm.

“The idea is to allow people to unwind before their travel. Hence we decided to have these salons and spas close to the departure gates. The spas are located inside Dubai International Hotel (DIH) which runs across the two terminals,” said Avinash Menon, deputy general manager (DGM), Dubai International Hotel (DIH).

“It is the perfect way to relax ahead of your travel,” said British traveller Carol Ford. “I am a regular visitor to Dubai and I get my beauty fix at the airport itself as it is a lot more convenient than going to a city spa. Once I was en-route to Boston via Dubai and I did an Ayurvedic Indian head massage (Dh150 for 25 minutes)and a Thai body massage (Dh150 for 25 minutes) which completely rejuvenated me,” said Ford.
