ABU DHABI In a recent photography contest conducted by Dubai Internet City, Canon Middle East and Abu Dhabi University, pictures of the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the capital comprised the maximum entries, followed closely by the Burj Khalifa.
Ammar Al Malik, executive director, Dubai Internet City, told XPRESS: “We received a total of 330 entries. Of them 90 were under the specific category of landmarks. Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque figured in 18 pictures, Burj Khalifa 17, Old Dubai 15 and Dubai Mall 10.
The newest addition in landmarks, Dubai Canal, accounted for seven entries.”
The entries were received on Instagram last month with participants using the clickUAE hashtag. The competition was conducted to mark World Photography Day.
“We received various pictures ranging from desert shots to beach views. People from across the UAE, including professional photographers, local influencers and hobbyists, participated in the 10-day contest,” said Malik.
Of the 330 entries received, 30 have been shortlisted for a workshop to be held on September 16.
The workshop will be led by Nicholas Tohme, Dubai-based creative photographer.
Aim of the workshop
“The aim of the workshop is to help these amateur photographers to be able to use their vision and mind to perfection. Learning the technicalities is very easy nowadays on the Internet, but the message that isn’t always delivered is how to expand our vision and see with our mind,” said Tohme.
