London: Victoria’s Secret has promoted 10 of its existing models to Angel status. The names include models Elsa Hosk, Sara Sampaio and Lais Ribeiro.
Models Stella Maxwell, Kate Grigorieva, Taylor Hill, Martha Hunt, Jac Jagaciak, Romee Strijd and Jasmine Tookes have also all been promoted to Angel status and will join existing Angels Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosia, Behati Prinsloo, Lily Aldridge and Lindsay Ellingson in this year’s much-anticipated catwalk show, which is rumoured to be taking place in November.
“The expanded Angel lineup gives Victoria’s Secret the largest group of contract models in its history and the most powerful collection of established and emerging models in the world,” label officials said in a statement.
The news follows the departure of both Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss, who announced they had hung up their wings earlier this year to focus on other projects, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Kroes ended her contract with the company at the end of last year after being offered a new “business opportunity”, while Kloss is ending her collaboration with the brand when her contract runs out later this year to focus on her “myriad commitments”.
Meet the models:
Martha Hunt (North Carolina)
Was discovered in her home state of North Carolina at a modelling competition. She likes to cook and stays active with surfing and dancing.
Kate Grigorieva (Russia)
Is an accomplished ballroom dancer. She graduated from art school and received her Bachelor’s degree in marketing before starting her modelling career.
Stella Maxwell (United Kingdom)
Has lived all over the world. She was discovered by a New Zealand agent, loves racket sports, hiking and travel.
Jac Jagaciak (Poland)
Was discovered during a casting at a shopping mall in her hometown of Puszczykowo. She comes from an athletic family, and trained in track and field since childhood. She enjoys playing sports and cooking.
Jasmine Tookes (California)
Practiced gymnastics for 14 years and played high school volleyball. She is a self-described “foodie” who loves trying new and exotic meals.
Sara Sampaio (Portugal)
Has won the Portuguese “Best Female Model” Golden Globe multiple times. She is a brown belt in karate, plays the violin, and loves to surf.
Taylor Hill (Colorado)
Was scouted at a horse ranch in Colorado. She likes new music, reading, snowboarding and practicing yoga.
Elsa Hosk (Sweden)
Began modelling after her father submitted photographs to a local agency. Elsa balanced modelling with a professional basketball career, eventually leaving the court to pursue modelling full time.
Romee Strijd (Holland)
Has a passion for interior design and cooking. She stays fit with running and boxing.
Lais Ribeiro (Brazil)
Stays active with boxing, volleyball and soccer. She also has a passion for salsa dancing.
