UOWD throwball, volleyball and table tennis teams to participate in ‘Sympulse 2011'

Dubai A 24-member squad from the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) has left for Pune, India, to take part in ‘Sympulse 2011', the international sports and entertainment festival organised by Symbiosis International University, Pune, from January 17 to 21.

The UOWD women's Throwball, men's Volleyball and Table Tennis single teams will be competing with university teams from all over the world in the five-day event.

"This is the first time that UOWD sports teams are travelling abroad to participate in an international event, having put up stellar performances at the UAE level for several years," said Franky Barreto, Manager, Student Services, UOWD.

"Excitement is running high among all the members, as this will enable them not only to showcase their sports talent on international stage but also to network with students from various universities."

Sympulse 2011 is a pan-global festival, with participants coming from countries like Russia, UAE, Germany, Hungary, Singapore and India. The event has four main components: The Symbiosis International Model United Nations Conference (SIMUNC); Symulate, a management event; Anany, a cultural event and Sprint, the sports component.
