Abu Dhabi: Khalid Yousuf was crowned champion of the 2015 Presidents Cup golf tournament, which took place at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club over the weekend. More than 60 Emiratis were in the fray for the event.

Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, along with other dignitaries gave away the winner’s trophy.

Yousuf put together two impressive rounds, in very tough windy conditions, to win the Presidents Cup for the second time in three years. He shot rounds of 74-68 for an event total of two-under-par 142.

Speaking after the event, Yousuf said: “I enjoy this tournament very much as it brings all of the national players together and I get to see some old faces. This event shows that Emirati golf is progressing. We still have a long way to go but UAE golf is looking promising. This weekend, I kept the ball in play and I was shaping my shots well. I tried to control the flight of the ball as I knew the windy conditions would make this weekend extremely tough”.

Taking the runner-up prize was Rashid Hamood, who had rounds of 82 and 77 for a total of 159. Saleh Al Ameri, with rounds of 81 & 83, came in third with a total of 164. The overall Net winner of the event was Nabil Alalawi, who had two net rounds of 75 & 70 for a total of 145.

Lora Al Marzooqi, who had rounds of 99 and 93, has a tournament total of 192. The ladies’ overall net winner was Dr Rabab with a net score of 145, 1-over-par. The event is sponsored by HSBC.
