Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City has announced the opening of the ZSC Academy offering coaching for tennis and ice skating.

The scheme will begin on Tuesday, September 6 and offer year-round coaching through a series of programmes designed to ensure that there is something for everyone — be it novice sports enthusiasts or elite athletes.

Barry Bremner, General Manager, Zayed Sports City, said: “Our track record of delivering impactful and memorable experiences around sports and entertainment and a growing public demand for high-quality coaching has led us to launch ZSC Academy. Projects such as Abu Dhabi Wilson Tennis Cup, Learn to Skate and our community-focused sports programmes, including the National Sports Festival and TrainZSC, allow us take on this venture with confidence. I have no doubt that, like these other projects, ZSC Academy will also deliver excellent programmes.”

ZSC Tennis Academy will provide up to 800 coaching sessions each month, serving over 250 players.

The academy will offer high-performance squad, private and semi-private lessons, group lessons, cardio sessions (fitness related), ladies-only sessions and lessons specially designed for kids as young as three years old.

ZSC Skating Academy will build on the success of the ‘Learn to Skate’ programme, working with the prestigious Ice Skating Institute of Asia to certify coaches and develop curriculum.

The academy will provide up to 160 sessions each month, serving more than 300 individuals. The programmes will be categorised into private, semi-private and/or group lessons with maximum of eight participants. Lessons will be available for people aged five and above.

ZSC Academy reflects a strategic focus for Zayed Sports City to continue growing through hosting major global and regional events as well as creating programmes to engage the community as participants, organisers say.

It is the latest development in a series of recent and soon-to-launch community-focused initiatives by Zayed Sports City. Last year, the sports and entertainment destination had developed the National Sports Festival, marking the UAE’s first National Sports Day in Abu Dhabi. Earlier this year, it launched a monthly programme of vertical training activities titled Train ZSC, both of which involve Daman’s ActiveLife. With more programmes such as Sunset Music Festival and Taste of Abu Dhabi in the pipeline, Bremner and his colleagues say Zayed Sports City continues to evolve as a brand, providing new and varied experiences to the residents of the UAE.
