Abu Dhabi: Budding tennis stars from across the region will be given the opportunity to play their way into a once-in-a-lifetime coaching session with one of the stars of the annual Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) as registration for the Mubadala Community Cup officially opens.

The community tournament attracts rising stars of all ages as they vie for a chance to play against the heroes of MTWC during the annual season-opening tournament, which runs from December 29 to 31 at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. Registration is now open at www.mubadalawtc.com ahead of the first rounds, which will kick off on Saturday, October 22 in Dubai and Friday, November 4 in Abu Dhabi.

Firmly established as one of the region’s largest amateur tennis tournaments, the Mubadala Community Cup is open to players aged eight and above and comprises categories ranging from Under-10s to Adults Mixed Doubles. Players at each event will compete in their age category to secure one of only 60 spots at exclusive coaching clinics with tennis legends such as the world number two Andy Murray and the man he beat in this year’s Wimbledon final, Milos Raonic.

Murray and Raonic have already confirmed that they will participate in the Mubadala tournament, which is a six-strong annual exhibition organised by Flash Entertainment, the region’s premier live events company, in partnership with Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company.

In addition to the action, fans will be offered off-court activities in the Tennis Village, where they can interact with players via autograph signings and coaching clinics for the winners of the Community Cup.

Tickets to the 2016 Mubadala World Tennis Championship start from Dh50 for Category 2 seating. Exclusive premier hospitality packages are also available, including food and limited beverages, star player meet-and-greets and courtside seating.

Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race ticket-holders redeeming their Y1 Access benefits receive a 20 per cent discount on Category 2 tickets.
