Sharjah: C.P. Rizwan enjoys destroying his opponents with bat and ball and he reprised the act in the domestic league games.
In the ninth Al Dhaid Gold Cup tournament, Rizwan smashed an unbeaten 130 to steer Alubond to an emphatic 224-run win over Unicon Real Estate. During the same week, Rizwan playing in the Rashid Allem Premier League for his employers WS Atkins, produced a six-wicket spell against Neo Biocon. He hit 61 runs and also bagged six wickets for 13 runs from his three overs to ensure his team a 146-run victory.
Speaking to Gulf News, Rizwan said: “I give my best each time I go out and that is why I have managed to produce match-winning knocks and good bowling spells. My best spell is 7 for 22 for Yogi Group against Cost Cutters in the 50-over Bukhatir League. Getting six wickets in a T20 match was special. I will value my unbeaten 130 among my best as it was in an A division teams event.”
In the Al Dhaid Gold Cup, after Rizwan thrashed the Unicon bowling during his 98-ball stay with 13 boundaries and four sixes and put on an unbroken 119 for the sixth wicket with Samiullah Younis (54 not out), the Unicon team surrendered meekly. Alubond posted a whopping 336 for 5 in 40 overs and bowled out Unicon for 112.
In Rashid Aleem Premier League, Rizwan’s 61 helped his team post 215 for 9 in 20 overs. His six-wicket spell resulted in Neo Biocon bowled out for 69 in 12 overs.
In another match of the Al Dhaid Gold Cup, Amjad Ali and Usman Saeed smashed brilliant half centuries to guide UBL to a six-wicket victory over Bukhatir Group.
In the Mulk Twenty20 A-Division tournament Multiplex International defeated Bukhatir XI by 60 runs, while Sharjah Cricket Club down ECB Blues by five wickets at the Ajman Eden Garden Grounds.
