Sharjah: Rohan Mustafa, who bagged the Best Cricketer of the Season award for the second year in succession in the Shyam Bhatia annual awards last week, justified the honour with another match-winning performance in the prestigious 25th Bukhatir League 20-over tournament held at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

Mustafa guided Alubond Tigers to a five-wicket victory over One Stop Tourism through his superb half century. Needing 172 to win in 20 overs, Mustafa set the tempo for the chase through his quick 63 runs. He had also bagged two wickets.

Amjad Gul hit 34 off 13 deliveries while Umair Ali scored 35 runs off 24 to ensure the victory in 17. 5 overs.

Earlier, opting to bat first, One Stop Tourism openers Fahad Ansari and Saif Janjua scored 28 runs each to give a fine start. Rohit Singh blasted a fine 61 off only 38 balls with six boundaries and three sixes while Chirag Suri scored a 29-ball 37 runs but their efforts went in vain.

In another match, Multiplex International edged past Alubond Tiger to register a one-wicket victory. It was Multiplex International’s second successive victory.

Needing 189 to win, Multiplex International got off to a reasonably good start with openers Sapandeep Singh (14) and Imran Ali (22) sharing a 28-run stand for the opening wicket. The chase was abruptly halted when Multiplex International lot a few quick wickets with three batsmen getting out on single-digit scores.

At 61 for five, Multiplex International were clearly out of reckoning before Laxman Manjrekar and Haroon Ahmad got the innings back on track.

Sagar Cricket Club and Imran Cricket Club recorded victories in the Al Ain Premier League.
