Ajman: Lama Tours emerged the champions of the Goan Super League (GSL) Cricket Championship defeating Eleven Warriors Hyderabad in a hard-fought final at the Ajman MCC Grounds.

In the semi-finals of the tournament, held under the auspices of Ajman Cricket Council, Lama Tours got the better of Yash Bisya Lions from Oman whiles Eleven Warriors stopped Abone CC.

A large gathering of not only Goans but also expatriates from other states of India, and even other countries, turned up to watch the action. Organisers even conducted fun games, a raffle draw and other entertainment off the field for the large number of families that turned up to cheer the cricketers.

Sixteen teams took part in the competition, which was held for three continuous days with matches being played at day and night on a turf wicket.

The winner’s trophy was handed over by Shadab Jakati, Goa’s top cricketer who is an IPL star and plays for Gujrat Lions. The event was organised by Shams Event management and Frame colours with the United GMC team and supported by Truewood Interiors, Anaya, Octa Square, Mulk corporation, Manuport, Design Infinity and Red Bull.

The tournament took place with the trophy launch by former UAE cricketer Shehzad Altaf, who played in the 1996 World Cup, and Bollywood actor M.S. Khan.

The winners of the individual awards were Best batsman: Krishna Satpute (Lama Tours) Best bowler: M. Sohail (Yash Bisya) Man of the final: S. Toufiq (Lama Tours). Man of the series: Krishna Satpute.
