Fujairah: National Bank of Fujairah (NBF) have announced the launch of its first run to take place in the emirate on December 1. The event coincides with National Day weekend festivities and is held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. Organisers invite all to take part with trophies awarded to the top three in different age categories across 3-km, 5-km and 10-km distances. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top 10 in the 10-km race.

Runners finishing first in men’s and women’s categories of the 10-km race receive Dh10,000 each, with those finishing from second to 10th getting from Dh7,500 to Dh500 in both categories.

The top three Emirati male and female finishers will receive between Dh5,000 to Dh1,000, while highest placed teams will get from Dh5,000 to Dh1,000, category dependent.

All those who cross the finish line will receive a medal for participation.

Inspiration for the run came from two NBF employees who run together on Friday mornings. Their passion spread across the company and they were soon joined by hundreds of their colleagues across the company. Thanks to their enthusiasm the bank is now turning this into an official event open to all.

Vince Cook, NBF chief executive officer said: “We are thrilled to kick-start our first ever NBF Fujairah Run and are grateful for our team of enthused runners who made this event a possibility. We are excited for the participants to experience the unique cultural heritage and historic scenery of Fujairah while they run through the planned racecourse. We look forward to welcoming runners of all ages and fitness levels participating and expect this event to be memorable for all.”
