Dubai: DIB Knight Riders registered double victories while Evergreen and Dubai Indians scored close wins in the ICC Academy HTC Ultra Cup. The indoor tournament is being held at the ICC Cricket Academy indoor facilities at Dubai Sports City. The event is held in partnership with HTC which is launching their new mobile called the HTC U. A total of 28 teams are participating in the Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions and it will run for 24 days, with matches played in the evenings.
The final will be held on April 5th and 6th.
DIB Knight Riders first defeated Dubai Qalandars and then overhauled the Faisal team.
Meanwhile, Evergreen had an interesting battle with NBF Blues before narrowly winning the match. Evergreen scored 88 but Blues could muster only 86.
In yet another match, Dubai Indians scored a superb win over Dubai Falcons. Dubai Indians had scored 97 and Falcons were restricted to 84 runs. In the other matches, Hawks beat DBMSC — B and OMG defeated Arenco IT.
In the Smart T20 league, Guruvayur Cricket Club defeated Cricketlovers by five wickets. M. Rizwan and S. Shabeer of Guruvayur produced excellent performances for their team to register their first victory in this tournament. Batting first, Cricketlovers were bowled out for 101 runs in the 19th over of the match. Guruvayur’s Rizwan picked up four wickets for seven runs and Cricketlovers hit 11 boundaries in their innings to add eight bonus runs as per the rules.
Guruvayur reached their target in the 18th over. Shabeer top scored with an unbeaten 52.
