Dubai: Cricket never stops in Dubai even at the peak of summer heat. The indoor cricket tournaments being held all over in Dubai’s top indoor facilities, with over 40 teams competing in different divisions of the tournament, are keeping the cricketers busy.

DBMSC (Dubai Building Material Supply Company) Steel team, which is one of UAE’s top indoor cricket team, emerged as the champions in United Super League sponsored by Danube Home at United Pro Sports indoor facility and also in the ICC Academy’s Sprite Challengers Cup.

The Insportz Indoor Club, which brought indoor cricket to UAE and is gearing up to host the indoor World Cup in September, staged the Finesse Ramadan Indoor Cricket League through five Divisions — Premier, B, C, D and Amateur. Team All Stars emerged as the champions beating Team Falcons by 53 runs. In the final, Team Stars scored 126 runs and restricted Team Faclons for 73 runs.

In the United Super League contested by 43 teams through different divisions, DBMSC Steel chased down SFS (Sky Bridge Freight Solutions) team’s target of 39 runs to win the A division title. The star of the match was DBMSC skipper Saqib Nazir, who led from the front with a four wicket spell and scoring 22 runs. UAE opener Ramveer Rai bagged the best player award. DBMSC had won the Sprite Challenge Cup at ICC too by defeating SFS by 27 runs in the final.

Speaking to Gulf News, Amit Chaturvedi, the DBMSC team manager and mentor said: “It is great to win two top tournaments to extend our winning streak. With the indoor world cup scheduled to be held here soon the core of the UAE squad will be made up of our team players as most are in form and will make it to the team.”

In the Finese indoor league, the Division B final was won by Team Mahirs defeating Team Hard Hitters by 59 runs. Team Chargers won the C Division final defeating Team Infinity by 16 runs while Team Lenova down Team Every Green by 49 runs in Division D final. The Amateur Division saw Bull Sharks defeat Team Proteas by 72 runs.

In the United Super League Data Care, Dubai Municipality and RAK Bank emerged champions in the B, C and D divisions respectively. In B division Date Care defeated Sagittarius Strikers chasing a target of 66 runs. Dubai Municipality, playing their first Indoor Cricket tournament trounced experienced Gumnaam team to win the C Division title. In the D Division final, Desert Raiders lost to RAK Bank.
