Dubai: City FC were able to do the double over du La Liga High Performance Centre (HPC) in both Under-14 and Under-16 categories of the UAE Football Association Academy League (UAE FAAL) at the weekend.
In the Under-14s division, City FC beat du La Liga HPC 4-3, in what was the match of week four, at the Sevens Stadium.
City went 2-0 up and du pulled one back before a third from City and a second from du before half-time, making it 3-2 to City at the break. Du then equalised in the second half before a winner from City to end it 4-3. Du La Liga HPC made up for it by beating La Liga Academy 4-0 and in other Under-14 matches Al Jazira beat Asateer 1-0.
In the Under-16 category meanwhile, City FC beat du La Liga 1-0, but du La Liga HPC still held on to the top spot in the table on goal difference.
Elsewhere, in the Under-18 division, Al Jazira beat Regional Sport 2-1 and City FC beat Zayed Sports City Academy 3-0.
The UAE FAAL has recently expanded from just an Under-18 category, to enable Under-16 and Under-14 club and private academies to compete.
