Dubai: Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s ace spinner, will launch Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy on October 19.

The Gen-Next Cricket Academy is a Chennai-based cricket coaching centre, founded by Ashwin, which has now entered into a partnership with Kings’ Education in Dubai across it’s all three schools.

Before flying into Dubai, Ashwin said: “I am extremely delighted with the launch of Gen-Next Kings’ academy in Dubai. This partnership is definitely going to contribute to continuous improvement in coaching techniques with a flavour of innovation and drive to excel. Further this would open the door for the budding youngsters to be inspired by the current playing cricketers apart from learning the tricks of the trade and lessons the hard way.”

The academy has been in operation since September 15 under Kobus Olivier, Director of Cricket for the academy. Speaking to Gulf News, Olivier said: “This partnership with Kings’ and Ashwin’s Gen-Next coaches will be special. We will be implementing Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy programs especially their High Performance Program designed by Ashwin. This programme has been derived from Ashwin’s playing experience at the international stage for over 10 years. Ashwin who is at its helm will be monitoring the progress of talent present in the system.”

Ashwin’s father Ravichandran is in charge of the daily operations of Gen-Next Cricket Academy in Chennai. All three Kings’ Schools: Al Barsha, Nad Al Sheba and Kings’ School Dubai will have branches of the academy. “Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy will have indoor as well as outdoor nets, astro-turf for matches, video analysis technology, bowling machine, fully equipped gymnasium and a cricket oval in Phase 2,” said Olivier, who is a Level 3 coach with two decades of experience as coach. Arshad Mohammed and Colin Morris are the England Cricket Board Level 2 coaches heading the High Performance and Vision 2020 programme, respectively.

“Ashwin will interact with students and also will pass on his knowledge to the High Performance trainees as well as the Vision 2020 and Evolve (softball cricket) program trainees at the Kings’ School Al Barsha training center. For more information players can contact: gennext@kings-edu.com.”
