Sharjah: The summer heat could not stop Renjit Mani of Globelink WestStar from producing all-round performances including cracking a century in the Sharjah Cricket Council-organised Sharjah Summer Cup.
This tournament, which is always held during the peak of summer, tests the endurance of all cricketers.
Mani stood out in two matches and produced match-winning performances. He was instrumental in Globelink’s 141-run win over Roaring Lions.
Mani cracked 119 runs along with Jiju Janardhanan, who scored 117, to help Globelink post 260 for three in 20 overs.
In reply, Lions could muster only 119 for nine mainly due to Mani’s spell of three wickets for just six runs.
In another match, Mani hit an unbeaten 76 and also bagged two wickets to ensure a nine-wicket win over Sialkot XI. Sialkot were bowled out for 157 for eight due to Mani’s bowling backed by UAE bowler Laxman Sreekumar and Shanib Khasta with two wickets each.
Chasing the score, Mani steered Globelink to a comfortable win with Sreekumar hitting an unbeaten 34.
In other matches, Multiplex International recorded an identical seven-wicket win over Mir Club and TNS Splendid.
