Dubai: Siddharth Puthran played a captain’s knock to help Al Naboodah to victory against Team Fatiz in the final of the Blue Bell Shipping indoor cricket Division ‘D’ League 2016 held at Insportz Club Dubai.
Batting first, the Team Fatiz run flow was restricted through some accurate bowling from Bharathwaj Bala (3 wickets for minus 13 runs) and Sreevatsan Sreeniwasan (3 for minus 8), while Rajesh Kasinathan and Rameez Jowhar took two wickets apiece.
Thanks to an opening partnership of 25 runs in the first four overs between Mohammad Ajmal (15) and Salim Rahim (10), and a late rearguard of 12 runs from Shahroz Khalid (12), Team Fatiz managed to reach a challenging total of 21 in their allotted 16 overs.
With a modest target to chase, Al Nahboodah’s first two pairs struggled to find runs as Team Fatiz bowlers Salim Rahim and Mohammad Ajmal stuck to a steady line and length. The scoring took off with the third pair of Kasinathan (9) and Jowhar (2) as they scored eleven runs in their allotted four overs.
Captain Puthran (15) then teamed up with Saurav Pandey (7) added 22 runs in the last four overs to see their team across the finish line.
Rahim went on to scalp four for minus 12 runs, and Ajmal took three wickets for minus 5 runs as Al Naboodah emerged victors.
