Abu Dhabi: The 2016 Rio Olympics gold medallist Fehaid Al Deehani and bronze medallist Abdullah Al Rrashidi of Kuwait will lead regional challenge against Asia’s best shooters in the capital for the 6th Asian Shotgun Championship from November 1-9.

The event is held under the auspices of the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) and will be hosted at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort with a total prize money of $50,000 up for grabs.

Over 100 shooters from 10 countries have already signed up for the championship and as per the organisers the numbers is expected to rise.

“We have so far received entries from 110 shooters from 10 countries for the championship. Among the ten countries that have sent in the nominations include Kuwait, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Lebanon, Iraq and Lebanon,” said Rabee Al Awadhi, vice president of the UAE Shooting Club, who also added that the UAE team is yet to be finalised.

Women’s Trap event will held on November 3 and it will be followed by Tap for Men. The Double Trap event for Men will be held on November 5. The Skeet for women will take place on November 7 while the following day is scheduled for the Men Skeet event.

The General Manager of the Al Forsan Resort, Rashid Al Qubaisi while highlighting that the resort hosts international events regularly said that they were prepared for the championship.

“Al Forsan has an unparalleled experience in organising various international competitions in the resort. We pride ourselves in offering local and international guests state-of-the-art facilities and more competitive sport that they can also explore in one destination,” he said.

Ahead of the championship Al Forsan will also host the International Grand Prix Championship from October 20 to 30.
