Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Indian school and Bright Riders both hit back after their opening-round defeats in the UAE Xchange U12 Abu Dhabi School League conducted by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council on Thursday.

Akshay Talekar blasted 87 from 62 balls for ADIS to emerge winners by 133 runs over Gems Cambridge International, while Bright Riders got the better of Model by 99 runs at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club Nursery Ovals 1 and 2.

Talekar hit 10 fours and three sixes and shared a 126-run stand for the third wicket with Gary Frank, who chipped in with 42 off 33 deliveries containing four boundaries.

Nikhil Menon was 33 not out and took four for eight from 3.2 overs to star in Bright Riders’ victory.

He arrived at the crease when his team were 63 for four in the 12th over and took their total to 130 for seven. Model were bowled out for 35.

Vishnu Menon hit 64 not out in 53 balls to anchor The Cambridge High School to 149 for four and record a 22-run win over Emirates Future International for their second win in the competition.

Bhavan’s also secured their second win. Maharshi Joshi (37 not out) and Aakash Mahesh (30) shared a 74-run partnership for the fourth wicket for their team to put up 144 for five on the board.

Al Yasmina, in reply, were 102 for six, as Will Tweddle (40) and Omar Shakeel (27) shared an 89-run stand for the third wicket.
