Dubai: Reynaldothewizard is eleven years old. By rough estimates, that equals to around 38 years of a human being.

But Zabeel Stable’s venerable son of Speightstown, a winner of the listed Dubawi Stakes sponsored by DP World for a third successive year in January, has given trainer Satish Seemar plenty to be pleased about heading into the $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen on the big night.

“He’s a true legend of Dubai,” Seemar said. “Unfortunately, he never seems to get a proper gate. And despite this, he never puts up a bad race either. He’s such an honest horse and he always lands up giving off his best.”

Reynaldothewizard has been drawn to start from Gate 12 in the 14-horse field in Saturday’s Group 1 flat horse race for three-year-olds and above over 1,200 metres. His years have proved his maturity, and that, in turn has eased the workload of the trainer.

“Though everyone refers to him as the old man of racing, he very much tells us what to do,” Seemar said.

“He wasn’t 100 per cent ready for Super Saturday, but he was up to the task showing us all over again that he’s not an old man and that we can’t put a dampner to his game,” he added.
