Dubai: The UAE national team reconvene for training on Friday ahead of their remaining two World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

The Whites will play Saudi in Al Ain on August 29 and Iraq in Jordan on September 5.

Al Ain players will be late to re-join the squad as they prepare for their Asian Champions League quarter-final first leg at home to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal next Monday.

Edgardo Bauza’s UAE side are fourth in their group six points off qualification with two games remaining and need to thrash their opponents to stand any chance of reaching their second World Cup since 1990.

A 30-man squad for the remaining two games was announced on Monday, with little change to the side that drew 1-1 away to Thailand in June.

Elsewhere, the Arabian Gulf Super Cup will be played in Cairo, Egypt on September 15 between Abu Dhabi rivals, Arabian Gulf League winners Al Jazira, and President’s Cup winners Al Wahda. This will be the second time the Super Cup has been played in Egypt as the Pro League Committee look to expand UAE football’s fanbase abroad.
