Dubai: The du La Liga High Performance Centre (du LaLiga HPC) U16 and U18 squads have landed in Spain for a three-week intensive training camp and competitive matches against some of La Liga’s top youth club sides including Sevilla and Malaga.

The 36-member strong contingent represents some of the UAE’s best junior players who have been selected from across the country through the duFC platform to join the du La Liga HPC, where they undergo a rigorous year-round training programme designed and executed to La Liga standards by a team of highly-qualified coaches.

This annual trip to Spain represents a unique opportunity for the du La Liga HPC talents to be discovered by scouts from La Liga clubs during their training camp and matches, which may lead to invitations for trials and contracts.

The two squads represent over 15 nationalities including the UAE, France, UK, Egypt, Jordan, Iran and Morocco. Their mental and physical strengths will be put to the test at a new international level and they look forward to learning new skills from what many consider the world’s strongest league during their training schedule.

“The du La Liga High Performance Centre was established to give football talents across the UAE a clear pathway of development to pro-football careers as they get discovered through the duFC platform. We congratulate the kids who have made it thus far and look forward to their progress in the coming weeks,” Abdulwahed Juma, executive vice-president, Brand and Corporate Communications, du, said.

The du La Liga HPC players’ camp kicked off on Thursday with an intensive programme that will see the boys training twice a day. They are scheduled to play their first friendly against Cadiz on August 5 followed by matches against Sevilla, Almeria, Granada and a grand finale against Malaga on August 19.

Coaches and scouts from La Liga clubs will be invited to attend the training and matches to scout possible players showing potential and recruit them to play in La Liga clubs.

Hussein Murad, CEO, Inspiratus, the organisers of duFC, commented: “The du La Liga HPC is a unique platform, enabling youth football talent from across the UAE to play football at pro-levels and hone their skills during their year-long training programme. The boys whose commitment and talent has led them to this point in their development, have an opportunity of a lifetime for a pro-football career awaiting them.”
