Dubai: A roadmap determining necessary mechanisms to implement the merger directives of Al Shabab, Al Ahli and Dubai Club into one entity called Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was announced on Thursday by the Supreme Committee, which is tasked with overseeing the merger process.
The move comes 24 hours after Shaikh Mohammad issued the merger decision, reflecting the keenness of the committee members to bring Shaikh Mohammad’s vision to fruition. The members praised Shaikh Mohammad’s decision, saying the move will boost Emirati sports to the level of those of advanced countries in line with the development progress being witnessed by the country on all levels.
The committee, which held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department and chairman of the Supreme Merger Committee, said that the merger decision has imposed a specific mechanism to ensure a smooth and effective merger process. It also approved the setting up of an executive committee to directly oversee the entire merger process. The executive committee, to be chaired by Sami Al Qamzi, will include various sub-committees.
Sulaiman stressed the importance of all committees completing their work within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of discharging their functions.
