Dubai: The Pro League Committee (PLC) has announced the fixture schedule for the first half of the 2016-17 season following a coordination meeting between the PLC and the UAE Football Association (UAE FA).

The meeting was attended by Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, Chairman, PLC, Abdul Hamid Al Mestaka, Member of the Executive Office, Suhail Al Areefi, CEO, PLC and Taha Ezat, Acting Director of Technical and Competitions, PLC.

The UAE FA was represented by Mohammad Bin Hazzam, General Secretary and national team coach Mahdi Ali.

The meeting decided that the new season will get under way with the opening round of the group stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup (AGC) starting on September 2. The second round of matches will be held on September 7-8, while the sixth and final round matches will be scheduled on December 12-13.

The Arabian Gulf League (AGL) campaign will kick off with its opening round being played over three days from September 16-18, while the second round will be from September 22-24. Round 13 will signal the halfway point of the AGL season on December 22-23.

The PLC has been making every effort to schedule the fixtures over weekends in order to provide the opportunity for as many fans as possible to attend matches at convenient times — and to establish a regular pattern of fixture scheduling to aid the marketing and promotion of the league.
