Dubai: Maxtalent Global Sports Academy, known for grooming young cricketers and organising schools and university cricket tournaments, has now decided to try and bring on young footballers.

Soccer Maxway Academy Football Training Programme was launched at the Al Nasr Sports Club Centre by former Sao Paulo player and Al Nasr Sports Club Academy coach Douglas Saretti with former Maharashtra and Indian star Ignatius Pereira as the head of training.

Speaking to Gulf News, Sudhakar Shetty, the head of Maxtalent, said: “After contributing to the growth of cricket in the UAE for over a decade we at Maxtalent Global Sports would like to provide training to soccer which is the most popular game. We are coinciding this launch with the tenth year celebration of Maxtalent. It’s been worth the wait to get the necessary approval to start Soccer Maxway from Al Nasr Sport Club management. We have close associations with Al Nasr Sports Club, the oldest football club which opened its facilities to allow Cricket Maxway to commence its training on their premises.”

“With the aim of grooming soccer players who can go on to represent Al Nasr Club or even the hugely popular Indian Super Leauge (ISL), quality training is being planned to provide for budding soccer players.

“Former Indian national player from Maharashtra Ignatius Pereira will be heading the training outfit at the Al Nasr Sports Club centre. Regular training has commenced. The two days a week training will be held every Friday and Saturday morning from 7am to 9am. More details are available on www.maxtalentglobal.com.”
