Dubai: Al Ahli were a cut above the remaining 13 teams in the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) this season. Four players and an official throw light on what made the difference in the Red Knights clinching a seventh league crown:
Everton Ribeiro, attacking midfielder
Fighting spirit: We were prepared to fight for each and every point during the entire course of the league. Of course, it all came down to two big teams, Al Ahli and Al Ain, and it was our fighting spirit that eventually saw us through.
Ahmad Khalil, striker
More hunger: We were hungry for success this season. Not once did we give up the fight even though we were not in the best of positions in the first round of matches.
Abdul Majid Hussain Ahli, team supervisor
Soaking up the pressure: There was a lot of pressure on us, both from the fans and the players themselves. In the end we all managed to come together and cope with the immense pressure.
Habib Al Fardan, playmaker
Team work: We train hard as a team and function like a family on and off the pitch. No one is perfect, so when the going gets tough we are willing to shoulder responsibilities on behalf of the other players.
Jociel da Silva Ferreira, striker
Best coach: Cosmin [Olaroiu] knows what he is doing. He is one of the best coaches I have worked with. He is special and his ability to win trophies is a testament to his pedigree.
