Dubai: The Football School of India (FSI) will be conducting a spring football camp for youngsters in the UAE at the Springdales School, Dubai, from March 18-29.

Founded by former India players Abhishek Yadav, S. Venkatesh and Deepak Mandal, the training camp will consist of 10 sessions for various age groups from 4 to 6pm daily.

“The aim of the training camp is to ensure development of football talent in the UAE with an eye on representing the country in the future. The camp is the start of a pathway that FSI plans to create for the Indian youth having the potential of playing professionally in India as well,” Yadav told Gulf News.

“The pathway includes robust training plans at beginners as well as advanced levels designed as per the requirements of modern football and Indian national teams. The programme will include opportunities to participate in competitions in India and overseas,” he added.

Headquartered in Navi Mumbai, the FSI is a professional football coaching academy established in 2012 under the National Sports Foundation. The academy currently operates 21 training centres across several cities in India, including Mumbai, Pune, Udaipur and Kolkata.

With a two-star rating from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the academy engages more than 1,500 kids every year through various footballing activities.

“In the past we’ve had four players from our academy selected for national trials for the Fifa U-17 World Cup held in India and we’ve also had two players shortlisted in the final 30 from Maharashtra for the same tournament,” Yadav pointed out.
