Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, has issued orders for two new Olympic-style shooting championships to be staged in 2015.

The two championships will be the richest shooting competitions in the world in terms of prizes.

Shaikh Hamdan’s order is in line with his keenness to support promising talent and revive a sport that has brought pride to the UAE on the Olympic stage.

Both events will fall under the umbrella of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

The two championships are the Mohammad Bin Rashid Shooting Championship, which will feature competitions for trap, double trap and skeet shooting, and the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Shooting Championship.

Shaikh Hamdan also ordered the setting up of a Higher Organising Committee that will be chaired by Shaikh Juma Bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, leader of the Fazza shooting team.

Shaikh Juma will supervise the organising of the competitions in a way that reflects the UAE’s international appeal and its fast-growing sporting scene, besides promoting Dubai as the sports capital of the Middle East.

Mohammad Mubarak Al Matu’ee will serve as deputy chairman of the committee.
