Dubai: With just days to go until Dubai’s annual tennis extravaganza gets underway, organisers are trying to make sure everything is in place for two weeks of some of the best tennis action in the world on court - complete with an exciting entertainment programme for all the kids who want to enjoy a fantastic half-term break.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium will be the place to be from February 15-27 with a host of new activities for fans of all ages on offer, both on court and in the Tennis Village. Activities for kids include a tennis freestyle workshop with amazing performances from the tennis trickster; a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have photos taken with some of the top players in the world, as well as the chance to get an autograph from the stars of the game. Bouncy castles, arts and crafts and face painting and a number of sponsor activities will also be on offer. Along with the activities there are numerous competitions to win great prizes including the opportunity to meet and have a hit with the world’s best players, and win finals tickets.

And in a special offer this year, the Irish Village will be offering an exclusive Tennis Menu at lunchtime during the WTA week. Those who enjoy the special menu will also receive complimentary afternoon passes for the first three days of the first week, and 15 lucky families will also win tickets to the WTA finals. More prizes are on offer for kids who enter the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships design competition in the Irish Village.

Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free said: “With just a few days to go until the start of the WTA week we are all set for an even bigger and better schedule of activities in the village for all to enjoy. The number of opportunities to interact with the players means that everyone will have the chance to meet some of their favourite stars and we hope to inspire as many kids as possible to take up the sport.”

Tournament Director Salah Tahlak said: “Whether you are an avid tennis fan or just want to enjoy the atmosphere, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is a great family day out with something for everyone.

“The Irish Village and restaurants will be buzzing for the fortnight, and with so many of the world’s best players competing, even some of the top stars will be playing on Court 1, for which entry is free. Fans can also watch the action live on big screens while enjoying the atmosphere and live entertainment.”

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is owned and organised by Dubai Duty Free, and held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
