Dubai: A day after winning their second title together as a pair, Daniel Nestor and Rohan Bopanna are looking forward to many more success stories in the future.

Nestor and Bopanna won 6-4, 6-1 against Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Nenad Zimonjic in just 55 minutes and add to their first title they won in Sydney in January. In a final that figured all four players from last year, the Indo-Canadian pair was authoritative in some calculative play on centre court. The duo sees themselves following pretty much the same path during the remainder of the season.

“We play the same schedule pretty much every year with the Masters, the 500s and the Grand Slams. We have had a good start where we have beaten a lot of good teams and that is good. Obviously, now our goal is to win the Majors,” Nestor told the media.

With the coming weekend dedicated to the first round of Davis Cup ties, the remaining part of March will feature the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells followed by the Miami Open – both ATP 1000 tournaments. “The next few weeks will be big tournaments and we have to really be ready. But, if we play like we are playing and stay positive and keep working hard, we should be all right,” Nestor noted.

At 42, the Canadian has been an inspiration to the younger generation of players after spending more than two decades on the ATP World Tour. “The key lies in just understanding what we need to do and sticking to our game style. We are at our best when we are not worrying what’s happening on the other side of the net and we are playing our shots, which are generally aggressive shots. If we are executing, I think we can beat anyone,” the Canadian said.

Bopanna concurred: “We are an aggressive team, so when we are attacking and playing our to strengths, it’s very hard to play against us. because we are putting a lot of pressure on the other pair constantly. I think that makes us a more dangerous team. So far it’s been working and hopefully we can continue this same style of tennis,” Bopanna said.
