Dubai: Zhang Jike and Li Xiaoxia, members of the Chinese table tennis side that won men’s and women’s team gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, were the star attraction at Dubai Week in Shanghai, China, recently. The event was organised to celebrate the sporting partnership between Dubai and China.
The players gave a demonstration of skills and trick shots and posed for pictures with guests alongside badminton’s Chen Long, the 2014 winner of the BWF Dubai World Superseries Final, golf’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello, a Dubai resident and 2012 Omega Dubai Desert Classic winner currently competing in Shanghai ahead of this month’s Race to Dubai final, as well as eventing’s Alex Hua Tian.
The evening — co-hosted by Dubai Sports Council and Falcon and Associates — gave guests the chance to learn more about the city’s rich sporting heritage and growing significance as a world-class destination for sport.
