Dubai: Abdul Rahman Al Morshedy, the programme director at Clinic Swimming Academy, hopes to inspire young swimmers in the UAE and work towards grooming the best of them for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Al Morshedy was recently awarded the Best Coach/Manager for 2017-18 in the UAE Teen Sports and Fitness Awards, which recognises the achievements of youth in the age group of 11-19 years, coaches, schools, clubs and academies.

Al Morshedy feels the award will further motivate him to work on the project and hopes to achieve success by offering his expertise and prepare budding swimmers for the elite event. “The award is a big motivation. Being recognised for your hard work and dedication make you more determined and boosts you to work towards your goal.

“I’m grateful to the support I have been receiving. We hope to see our project excel with a few of our swimmers represent the UAE in the Olympics,” Al Morshedy said.

In the recent months, he has been travelling extensively to various cities in the US and attending high level clinics held in association with American Swimming Coaches Academy (ASCA) that have helped him enhance the level of training in the UAE.

He has been interacting with high profile coaches including Tom Auischious, Brian McGuire, Ray Loose, George Kennedy, Paris Jacobs, Bob Bowman, Duffy Deillon and many more.

The project at the Clinic Swimming Academy is supervised by Dr Mohammad Esmail, who mentored ‘The Golden Fish’ Farida Oswan, an Egyptian swimmer, now working as Director of Al Wasl Swimming Academy.
