A Corporate Premier League cricket tournament will be held for the first time at newly built Ajmal Oval ground. Aimed at giving a platform for corporate players to display their skill, the organisers have also made it attractive with a prize money for Dh30,000 for the winners. The event will be held under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council.

Speaking to Gulf News, Rahul Dalwale, who had successfully staged the Superstar Twenty20 tournament which gifted a car to the best player of the tournament for the first time in UAE’s domestic cricket is behind this tournament.

“This tournament is being organised by Web Channel that staged Superstar tournaments. In this Corporate tournament set to held from January 29 to February 15, sixteen corporate teams from across UAE will compete. For the first time a team from Pakistan named “Peshawar Cricket Academy” will also participate in the tournament. The tournament is sponsored and supported by Filli Cafe. Rafih Filli who is the founder and owner of chain of popular Filli is very passionate about the game of cricket. His team will also be playing in the competition.

In another event, Kerala Overseas Cricketers (KOC), a group of cricketers from Kerala who are currently based all over the globe, predominantly in GCC and Far East will be staging their next edition of their tournament. Many cricketers in the UAE will be taking part in this tournament. The concept of KOC was evolved in 2013 with an objective of bringing all former Kerala state cricketers under one umbrella to revive and strengthen their camaraderie. Last year they organised Friendship Cup Twenty20 tournament with support from Kerala Cricket Association in Kochi.

The KOC members will be releasing a souvenir on January 29 at the Park Regis Hotel and jerseys for the Friendship Cup 2015 edition.

KOC has 25 former Kerala State Cricketers and players from different part of the middle east will tour India from February 5 and play at the Ratnagiri ground in Wayanad District.
