Dubai: The 19th edition of the Gulf News Merchants Cup, a social golf tournament played between members of the UAE’s business community, will be held on Thursday at The Montgomerie, Dubai.

The tournament will be played in a Pairs Stableford (3/4 handicap) format, with the best Stableford score counting on each hole. The men will tee off from the Blue Sapphire tees and the ladies from the Red Ruby tees.

The annual event uses golf’s ever-growing appeal to spread camaraderie among the business fraternity.

Apart from prizes to the pairs of the top five finishers, trophies will also be awarded in various categories including the Nearest the Pin (holes 8 and 17), the Longest Drive (holes 10 and 18). In addition, several fun prizes will be also distributed.

Duleep George, Executive Director, Strategy and Marketing, Al Nisr Group, said: “We are delighted to be organising the 19th edition of our Merchants Cup Golf Tournament.

“It will be a pleasure to welcome our golfing friends, both old and new, at the competition today.

“We wish them luck and may the best pair win!”
